Joe Pic

Joe has been an active percussion educator and performer in the Twin Cities area since 2009. He has instructed and arranged for marching band and indoor percussion at Rosemount HS, Eden Prairie HS, 728 Cadets, River Valley Percussion Theatre, Blaine HS, Armstrong HS, among many more. In 2014 he was on staff as a snare drum technician for the world class indoor percussion group Minnesota Brass Indoor, and spent the summer as the percussion caption head for Chops Drum and Bugle Corps. Joe holds an Associate in Fine Arts/Music degree from Normandale Community College and is currently studying at the University of Minnesota to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education.

Joe’s marching experience includes 5 years of drum corps and 4 years of indoor percussion: Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps (2009, 2010, 2013), Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps (2011, 2012), and Minnesota Brass Indoor (2010-2013).

Evan Pufpaff
728 Cadets Marching Band Color Guard Instructor
Evan graduated from Saint Cloud Technical High School in 2008 where he marched with Saint Cloud All-City Marching Band for 5 years, and Eclipse Independent Winter Guard for four years. Post high school, Evan performed with Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps for one year, The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps for two years, as well as MBI Winter Guard for three years where he served as a captain. Evan has extensive teaching experience, including working with ROCORI, Foley, Eastview, Rosemount, Coon Rapids, Park Center, Lux Independent Winter Guard, and River City Rhythm Drum and Bugle Corps. He was color guard caption head for The St. Cloud All-City Marching Band as well as Eclipse Winter Guard. Evan is pursuing his LPN to BSN degree through Presentation College, and later plans on getting his master’s degree to be a Nurse Anesthetist.

Carrie Snyder
728 Cadets Marching Band Asst. Color Guard Instructor

Carrie Snyder graduated from Armstrong High school. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas (KU), earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Welfare in 2009 with a Minor in Dance. She marched with the KU Marching Jayhawks (2003-2006); and became Color Guard Director (2009-2013). She performed with Sky Ryders Independent Winter Guard (2004-2007), and Lux Independent Winter Guard (2014). Carrie has choreographed and instructed for many groups within Kansas City and the Twin Cities since 2005; including River Valley Winter Guard, 728 Cadets, Minnetonka High School, and many more. She has been an instructor with the 728 Cadets and River Valley Winter Guard since Winter 2014. Carrie is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, and Elementary School Social Worker in the Elk River Area School District.

Keith Saxton:
728 Cadets Marching Band Winds Instructor
Keith Saxton has been a part of the 728 Cadets organization since the 2014 Spectacular marching season, as well as River Valley Sound indoor winter hornline since their inaugural season in 2014. Saxton teaches music at Rogers Middle School, where he directs the 7th and 8th grade concert bands, and the jazz band.  He has also held teaching positions at Henry Ford Community College (Dearborn, MI), Mount Pleasant High School (Mount Pleasant, MI) and Sacred Heart Academy (Mount Pleasant, MI). Saxton was a freelance musician, running a successful entertainment business with a yearly calendar of more than 200 performances for nearly 20 years. His work included three national tours, and annual performances with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for their New Year’s Eve Gala. Saxton can be heard on multiple professional jazz recording projects, four of which made national charts. Saxton is a graduate of Central Michigan University.

Ethan Wightkin
728 Cadets Marching Band Winds Instructor
Ethan Wightkin teaches band and general music at Noble Academy charter school in Brooklyn Park. He started the school’s band program in the 2016/17 school year. Ethan graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania where he studied trumpet with Dr. Kevin Kjos. Before moving to Minnesota in 2015, Ethan was on staff with the Dieruff High School Marching Band, and the Gateway High School
Marching Band. He also returned to his alma mater to run the visual program for the Kutztown University Marching Unit. Ethan performs regularly in the Twin Cities. He is a member of Blue Waters Brass, Canon Brass, and plays in summer productions for the Rosetown Playhouse. Ethan has marched with the Bluecoats (2012), Glassmen (2007) and the Kutztown University Marching Unit.

Jacob Daniel
728 Cadets Marching Band Visual/Winds Instructor
Jacob Daniel is currently the Principal Tuba of the Mankato Symphony Orchestra and is finishing his masters degree in tuba performance at the University of Minnesota. An active performer and freelancer, Daniel has had the privilege of playing with top groups such as the Minnesota Orchestra, Royal Winnipeg Ballet Orchestra, Miami Ballet Orchestra, and Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. Daniel has had an active career not only as an orchestral musician, but as both a performer and educator in the marching arts. He marched contra with Carolina Crown in 2010, 2011, and 2013, where they were pronounced DCI World Class Champions. He finished his marching career aging out with Blue Devils B in 2014. He currently serves as the Visual Caption Head of River City Rhythm Drum and Bugle Corps and as a visual instructor with the RCR Indoor Drumline. During the fall, he teaches at Irondale High School and Eastview High School as both a music and visual instructor, respectively. Before moving to Minnesota, Daniel served as a visual tech with Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps and taught several different high school groups.
